Patch is a lovely apprx 20 month old boxer boy, white with a super cute brindle patch over one eye. He was a stray and was never claimed at the pound. What a shame because this boy is a doll! He is great! Patch is crate trained, walks well on leash, and is good with other dogs. He likes children. He loves to play ball! Patch has been neutered, vaccinated and had his check up. Patch might be partially deaf so we are still learning what sounds he hears best and how much he can hear. Once he has been in is foster home we will have more news on that front. Either way - he is not bothered by it! The only concern for dogs that cannot completely hear is that they must never be allowed off leash and they must have a securely fenced in yard.
August 25th update from Patchie's foster mom:
Patch is a very lovable dog and super well trained! We call him Patchie. He slobbers us with kisses every morning when we get up. We leave his ball outside at night so we don't hear it bouncing around all night (figured that one out real quick!) and don't give it to him until after he does his morning pee. Otherwise you're stuck playing fetch with him until he finally stops out of desperation to do his business! I know, I know, you're saying "just go inside and leave him out!" But if you saw that cute little face looking up at you with those big brown eyes you would not be able to say no either!! He loves to play fetch. But don't leave him with the ball otherwise he will destroy it! Believe me! I've bought the "indestructible" ones and they don't last a second!
Patchie is super friendly around every dog we've met. He's not off to play with them right away. Sometimes he likes playing with them and sometimes he keeps to himself! You would never have to worry about him being aggressive towards another dog. He also loves kids. He loves to sniff them and is very gentle with them. He has even dropped his ball in front of them to get them to throw it for him and so that he can run to get it, then will drop it back down again. The kids love it!( There are 6 little one's here at my home daycare under the age of 3)
Patchie needs a momma to love. He loves to sit with me and watch t.v. He loves to be cuddled and pet and you really can't help but rub his ears because they are so soft.
We were told that he might be deaf. But Patchie hears. He might have selective hearing ( like some males!!!) because he can definitely hear the cookie bag being opened or if you call him and ask him if he wants to play ball! Sometimes when were are outside playing, I get the impression that he might not know where the sound is actually coming from, but he usually looks around and figures it out.
I would say that Patchie's only downfall ( if you can call it that) is that he really does not like cats. He likes to chase them and will bite them. Being not much of a cat person myself, no problem here. But if you have a cat- it's not going to work.
I would go as far as to say that only loving, caring dog crazy people that want to spend lots of time with their dog apply for this real special little guy. You would be really lucky to get a dog this great!
