Back in December 2010 we lost yet another of our Boxers and once again I told myself that I would not be adopting any more Boxers. I just could not take the emotional strain. So I moped through the winter and in April 2011 contacted Linda Lloyd at BRO to say we were ready for another adoption. In no time at all, Linda put us in touch with Crystal at BRQ and days later I was heading to Trenton, ON to pick up Abby.

Abby had had a very rough early life, being abused as a puppy machine. When seized by the SPCA, this 2-year-old girl weighed a mere 41 pounds. She suffered from separation anxiety and was scared of men she did not know. That, of course, would be me at the beginning.

Abby integrated quickly and accepted me within a week. We were successful in getting her weight up to normal. Within a couple of weeks she was running free in the dog park. All in all a lovely, gentle soul who was living the life that all dogs are meant to live.

One day in February 2014 she suffered three violent bouts of vomiting and I took her to the vet. Evaluation of an ECG revealed she suffered from arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC). The news got worse – the vets told us she would be gone in a matter of weeks or months. They also recommended constraining her activity. We decided to ignore this recommendation. We thought she would be happier with a short active Boxer life rather than a longer one as an invalid. And so after a couple of weeks of convalescence Abby was back to her normal self, helped on by a daily dose of medications. Abby refused to believe this talk about “weeks or months”.

Then in early December past she and I went for our usual morning walk in the dog park. We met up with a couple of dogs we know. Out of nowhere Abby sat down on the path - very strange behaviour for her. I called her to come and she lay down and then rolled over on her side. I could not get her up nor could I get a response of any kind. I rushed her to the vet in the hopes that she was still alive but to no avail; Abby had gone to the Rainbow Bridge. The vet said she had probably had a heart attack and would not have experienced any pain.

We are shattered at the loss of Abby and take some consolation from the fact that she died doing what she loved and in the company of a human who loved her. We are grateful to BRQ and BRO for giving us the opportunity to love, and be loved by, our Adorable Abby.

boxerrescuequebec.comtag:www.boxerrescuequebec.com,2005:Post/38357722015-08-29T07:17:51-04:002024-02-14T07:46:46-05:00Beaconsfield Pet Fair - September 12thboxerrescuequebec.comtag:www.boxerrescuequebec.com,2005:Post/37466742015-06-18T11:24:44-04:002023-12-10T13:03:55-05:00Nail Clipping - donations to Boxer Rescue Quebec

He is apprx 8 months to one year old. He is a beautiful, white male boxer, with little discreet black flecks scattered across his coat. He was found living on the streets of Terrebonne, then put into a high kill pound from which BRQ rescued him moments before being put down.

Oliver is an absolute joy. He is the biggest cuddler with an even bigger heart. He loves dogs of all sizes, cats and humans of all ages. He has his bouncy moments throughout the day but is a fairly calm dog for his age. He is extremely food driven and is an extremely quick learner. He knows his basic commands (sit, stay, etc.) and will learn just about any trick if there is a treat involved. He can spend hours chomping on a bone or toy. He is very gentle but very curious of his surroundings. He generally walks quite well on leash, and absolutely adores car rides.

He does suffer from separation anxiety and is going through training with Perfect Pet Training to help this issue. He is not a big fan of the cage nor being left alone. His forever family should be home more often than not and willing to continue with his training. He is such a sweetie and deserves a fantastic home! Please do not apply if you are away from the home for full workdays, or are not dedicated to continuing Oliver's training.

If you are interested in adopting Oliver, please apply.boxerrescuequebec.comtag:www.boxerrescuequebec.com,2005:Post/21922732013-12-08T15:34:31-05:002023-12-10T14:09:39-05:00*Boxer Rescue Quebec Foster Dog Christmas Tree Project* PROJET ARBRE DE NOËL POUR LES CHIENS EN FAMILLES D’ACCUEIL*We believe all dogs should have a special Christmas - and for that reason we are putting up a Christmas Tree for all the BRQ foster dogs, Present and Future.

Boxer Rescue Quebec has always been proud to accept boxers of all ages and even those with special health needs into rescue. Sometimes we come across dogs who – because of the physical or emotional damage they have suffered, or due to advanced aged or terminal illness – cannot be rehomed. In these cases, which have sadly become more frequent, we endeavour to provide long-term foster placements with experienced carers who will ensure these special boxers know a loving, secure home for their final years.

In other cases the dogs need extensive veterinary care and take a long time in foster care to recover for the neglect they endured.

This year, we'd like to do something special for our foster dogs. And we could use your help!

As you can see our Christmas Tree is bare - just like most foster boxers when they come in to rescue. These dogs have no leash, collars, food - and certainly no toys or warm coats for the winter. But most obvious of all the Christmas Tree is bare of warmth and happiness, we would like for this tree to be like our foster boxers and grow into a beautiful happy tree that is full and emanates warmth and love.

Are you interested in helping in creating the most amazing Foster Dog Christmas Tree ever? You can do it in five ways:

1) You can send greeting cards to be added to and around the tree. Please send the cards to our PO BOX (address below) or drop them off at Boutique Pennypetz in Hudson.

2) You can pick one or two of the fosters in our program(s) and do a special special package(s) or stocking(s) for them of items of all sorts, toys, treats, dog begs, beds jacket etc. This can be sent to our PO BOX Boxer Rescue Quebec, C.P.

My name is Peanut. I am around 6 years young and need to find a home. I was found by some really nice people in Ottawa that started to help me get better. You see, I was used to make puppies and was not treated well. I had been beaten and abused and was never fed. Some of my teeth needed to be pulled out because of severe infection and I couldn't be spayed (so I never had to have puppies again) because I was too skinny and sick. The Ottawa Humane Society helped me get better and I was finally spayed, and I was sent to BRQ to have a better chance at finding at great family. So, my lovely foster mom brought me to her house to stay until I found my forever home. I LOVE children and am okay with friendly dogs. I do not like cats. I really, really, love my people and am sad to see them leave me but can deal with it. I love car rides and I am very portable at only 35 lbs! I am a good girl and really, really would love to find a nice home. I love where I live now but I heard my Mom saying as long as she has me, she can't rescue another Boxer and because I know what it feel like to be sick, scared and all alone, I need to get out of here so she can help another one! :) Please help me find a home. I promise I will always love you.
If you are interested in adopting Peanut, please apply http://www.boxerrescuequebec.com/apply

Bonjour!

It took a lot of coordination and a lot of people giving their time and love - but we managed to rescue 4 breeding females from a puppy miill this week. The FAB FOUR are now in rescue and SAFE! They will no longer be puppy making machines but they will be loved and valued as friends and family members These girls were taken into rescue just 24 hours ago and despite the neglect they have been victims of, they are all settling in very well. They have all been bathed, met their foster families and had a good night's sleep. All four girls are very friendly and will be great additions to a family. They will soon be vetted and spayed. Please stay tuned for more photos and updates on THE FAB FOUR!

Despite Buster's grey face, he is only 5 yrs old. He is very eager to please, and has settled in super quickly at his foster home with his two foster brothers and one crazy foster sister. He is so adaptable (and adoptable) - if you want to play, Buster will play, if you want to chill, Buster will chill, if you want cuddles, Buster will gladly cuddle. So far we haven't caught him counter surfing, he is trustworthy when left loose, and at night he loves to snuggle up in his cage and sleep. He's a real gem and very low maintenance. I can easily see him fitting into a family with dogs or without (cats are questionable), a super active household with kids over eight, or a single person home. If interested, don't wait to long to apply because I think he will find a loving forever home real soon. He could not have had a better family! Here is a tribute that they wrote for him:

"We will always remember the first day of Wilbur arriving at our house in July 2010 and our 4 year old daughter running off crying because she was scared of the new addition to the family, Wilbur. It took Wilbur less than a day to convince her he was going to be her best friend, as he also has been to us all. Every day he has been ours and the girls friend, playmate, protector and loyal companion.

I will never forget the girls squeals of laughter as he played with them in the garden, his eyes moving back and forth on walks checking where the girls were and the people he didnt know, stretching out in the lounge with one of us as we relaxed and watched TV, his reluctance to go for a walk in the rain and how he hated getting wet, futile attempts to chase squirrels, his tolerance for energy infused (and sometime irritating to him) small dogs, his suspiscion of larger dogs (unless they were female), his fake mean posturing in front of cats but most of all, his unconditional love for all the family.

Unfortunately Wilbur was diagnosed with a tumour on his heart in early March and was given approximate 2-4 weeks to live but together with the help of Joanne from BRQ, we made sure he enjoyed his last few weeks with us as much as he could. On April 10th 2013, sadly Wilbur passed away with his human mum comforting him.

We will all miss him so much

The only reason this worked out for Ralphie is that we had the resources - volunteers and an available foster - to save him. Otherwise this sweet soul would not be safe with us today. Boxer Rescue Quebec is in urgent need of more foster homes that are capable and willing to take in boxers at a moment's notice. Currently all of our foster homes are full and we do not want to turn away another Ralphie.

As I sit here typing, it’s 3am and it dawns on me that this is the first time I’ve ever lost sleep over anything. It’s been two days since you crossed the bridge and quite frankly, I don’t know how to live without you, my darling baby girl. I am shattered and I am not sure I will be able to put the pieces of my heart back together. Your brother Kramer misses you, and so does your foster brother, even after only having known you for three short weeks. That’s how amazing you were. Everyone loved you. I fell in love with you after meeting you for the first time, when you were just a baby, almost nine years ago. How I wish I could have nine more. How I wish I could have a lifetime with you. You were the light of my life, my trusty companion and every moment good or bad was shared with you. That’s why I say, I don’t know how to live without you…

When we found your illness at Christmas, I thought I was going to lose you right away, or perhaps have to help you cross the bridge. I cried and stayed at your side for hours on end, just holding you and sleeping beside you. I had always feared the day I would lose you and never thought it would be so soon. But then a miracle happened and we managed to treat you, and you gave me nearly two gloriously happy months where you were just like a puppy again, so happy and carefree. Full-blow, uninterrupted, crazy, goofy 100% Kashmir through and through. My little girl reborn! And I cherished every minute with you because I somehow always knew you were on borrowed time from that point on, it was just too good to be true. When I brought you to the vet on Valentine’s day after you had your first seizure since starting the treatments, they told me they would have to keep you overnight to make sure you were ok. You loved that vet’s office and the staff so much, and they loved you too… because of that I wasn’t worried about leaving you in their care and thought I would be picking you up the next day. We all thought this was just a little bump in the road. If I would’ve known you would be breathing your last breath the next morning my pretty girl I would’ve slept beside you in the cage. I am so sorry that I wasn’t by your side when you crossed the bridge. I did everything I could to help you, I would have sold the house and car if money could have saved you but you must’ve been too good for this earth and your time had come. I know you went gently and were not suffering, and I hope you can forgive me for not being with you at that time. Please know that I was thinking of you, that I am always thinking of you, that you are in my heart always and I love you every minute of every day and I will continue to do so forever. I have never felt as broken or empty as I do now, my heart will be forever scarred. I hate the thought of not having you beside me, but I know you are with me in spirit. The last time I saw you was on Valentine’s day and I remember thinking that you have my heart. You have the most beautiful soul and I am so honoured to have been your mommy. Thank you for giving me the best years of my life and for loving me back unconditionally. May you rest in peace my pretty girl and I cannot wait to see you at the bridge. The birth of these little miracles was bittersweet as we were so happy that Momma and her pups were all strong and healthy but there were now 4 more dogs to have to find homes for! The puppies are now 10 weeks old and will be ready for adoption on February 23rd. If you live in the Montreal area, are home more often than not and have a securely fenced in back yard, one of these little angels could be yours!! They were used for breeding and were starving and neglected when they were brought to their foster home. With care and love, they flourished and were adopted. Since Sassy and Chance were so bonded, one of our criteria was that we wanted them to be adopted together – a big commitment for any family.

Lucky for these two the perfect family found them! It was a long drive to be joined with their new family in Windsor, Ontario but on a snowy day in November 2007 they arrived at their new home. Their new family consisted of a then 8 year old boy (now 13) and his mom, and they instantly fell in love with Sassy and Chance.

Recently with tough economic times, bad luck hit, and there were layoffs at the GM plant in Windsor. Sadly, Sassy and Chance's mom was one of the unlucky ones to lose her job. Retraining and job hunting has been difficult, but the family is surviving, putting one foot in front of the other and faith and determination have kept them going.

In a second round of bad luck, our sweet Chance has been diagnosed with diabetes. He is not doing well and needs hospitalization. BRQ would like to help with his vet bills since his family is already struggling. His family is heartbroken at this turn of events. They have already spent $700 for the initial visit and they are straining to keep up. If you can find it in your heart to help at this particular time it would be very much appreciated - any amount would help.

Carson is looking for a temporary foster home or a permanent family. Meet our most amazing and darling 3 yr old Carson! One week ago, BRQ rescued Carson from a reserve in Northern Quebec where he was living outdoors 24/7. Since his owner had abandoned him, a neighbour started to feed him but was unable to keep him indoors due to her landlord's objections. The poor guy has been outdoors all winter - can you imagine a boxer outdoors??!! His coat is the thickest we have ever seen on a boxer. He is covered in scabs from being attacked by other dogs. Despite all that he is SO friendly and loving. He gets along with dogs of all kinds (he was transported to us in a car with 3 others dogs of all sizes/sexes). The neighbour who was feeding him told us that he was always playing with the children on the street. He does not jump up, does not pull on leash, knows to sit and give the paw, has been left loose while his foster parents go out with no trouble, he is housetrained, gentle with great manners......and one last thing.....he is blind. Our vet thinks he can see shadows/light but that is it. I know this might cause some families to not consider him for adoption but he is really an amazing guy and better adjusted than most seeing rescue dogs that we get in. Maybe being blind is the reason he is so well adjusted....We are not sure if he was born this way or not. His eyes are not infected or painful or anything like that. He had his check up and deworming last week, and is being neutered today.

Tigger is a dream! He came to BRQ when his elderly owner fell ill and could no longer care for him. He’s been with me for a week now and has adapted incredibly well. He has very good manners – doesn’t surf the counters, doesn’t get into the garbage, doesn’t drink from the toilet, doesn’t go on the furniture, and so far, hasn’t jumped on my guests. He’s already learned not to pull me on walks. He’s super happy to see me when I come home and will follow me around the house, wanting to partake in whatever I am doing. He often curls up at my feet when I’m working on the computer or reading. He’s afraid of large *things* (it’s pretty random, but so far these have been big panel vans, ladders, and neighborhood mailboxes.... but thankfully not the vaccum!) and sudden, loud noises (trucks, buses, the garbage disposal for example) so I think a quieter home would be best for him, but he can definitely be with other dogs and probably would like to be as well (he gets along great with my guys). He might be an older dog, but he has a lot of spunk!! He’s definitely going to make someone very happy!

While outside he loves to play with the other dogs like a big puppy and while inside he is calm and loves to chew on his bone or sleep on the couch. He is full of wiggles when the kids come home from school, happy to see them. He is great on walks with his harness or gentle leader. He shows no real interest in dogs we pass along the way (and so far has no interest in our cat). He doesn’t seem to be a digger or a barker, but on the occasion he does bark, it’s a deep “stay out of my yard” bark. He likes to snuggle on the couch or just hang out on his own. At night and during dinner we put him in his crate and he doesn’t complain. With younger dogs he is a playful puppy and with older dogs he shows respect and is submissive. Although we were told he is a jumper, we haven’t witnessed this behaviour yet. He is learning to share with his foster brother and sister dogs ;0)

The moment I walked through my door with him, he tried to chomp on one of my cats running by the door. I said uh oh, this is gonna be fun! We had a 14 y/o boxer mix, Roxy and a 5 y/o great dane, Moose at the time. Just a few hours after arriving home with him we had to rush Roxy to the vet. She became very ill extremely quick and we had to let her cross the rainbow bridge. Before she closed her eyes to sleep, it was like her eyes told me it was ok to have Earl take her physical place. Shortly after he came to us we learned he had a disease called Megaesophogus. After reading a little about it we decided he was meant to be with us, so we decided to adopt him. Although he was 9-10 y/o, he was the feistiest senior we had ever met! He did not mess around when it came to play time. He broke countless dishes, he bent pots and pans, cupboards, garbage bags...and not to mention the cuts he gave to brian from rough play! but we would take one look at him, and those big brown eyes and that little stump tail would wag and he sucked us right in and forgot about all the damage he just caused. As tough as he was he gave the sweetest kisses and was such a good cuddler! All the dogs he beat up and all the places we had to avoid with him, it made us love his cranky butt even more. It was not easy having a mega-e dog. A lot of work, sleepless nights, TONS of drool and plenty of vomit piles to clean up. However with all that work, Brian and I would do it all again. We grew to love him so much in the short year and a half we had him and we have such a big hole in our heart for him. The only peace of mind we get with him gone is knowing he isn't suffering anymore and he can eat and drink all he wants now! I love and miss this beautiful boxer so much and I so hope he's romping in the grass and eating all the chicken he wants!

Meet Rose. Not all of our rescues are from puppy mills or backyard breeders. Rose is from a show breeder and has champion bloodlines. Despite this, Rose has not led a happy and pampered life. Her first owner broke the contract with her breeder by giving her away when they no longer could care for her. When the second owner had no time for her, they gave her away once again. Her third owner put her up for sale on an online classified site, because they were in an apartment and could not have her barking anymore. This is where her breeder discovered her. The breeder contacted BRQ because they had no room to take her back in themselves.

We were told that Rose has mild separation anxiety (totally normal for a young dog that has been moved three times in 2 years!) and was good with other dogs. Luckily we had a new foster home ready to take her in. When we got Rose in we discovered that she had been *severely* neglected. Our vet was appalled at how skinny she is, her nails are way overgrown and some were even split right up into her toes because no one had cared to keep them trimmed. The next thing we discovered is that Rose is actually not good with other dogs - this really put us in a difficult position because our only available foster home already has two dogs. After her evaluation with our canine behaviourists, Rose will be looking for a foster home with no other pets. Rose has not only been physically neglected but she is also a very nervous girl and needs to learn to trust humans again. Therefore we are also looking for a foster home with no young children, a foster home that has time to devote to rehabilitating Rose with the support of our professional positive reinforcement dog trainers.

He’s also scheduled to get his wings tomorrow. The pound lady takes a leash and opens my cage. YES! She picked me. We went outside, the ladies talked for a bit, we went for a short walk and then I went into the car with this new lady. Oh poor her! I smell so bad and there she is putting a warm jacket on me. It feels really nice. She does not seem to mind that I smell so bad because she petted me and kissed my head. She’s got tears in her eyes. I think she feels bad for the ones left behind. I gave her a big kiss and it worked. She’s smiling at me now.

A year later I’m still with the lady that picked me up she’s my foster mom. She tells me that if it wasn’t for the good people at Boxer Rescue Quebec and the nice lady (Carole) at the pound, I would not be this loving, happy boy I am today.

My foster mom tells me that one day I will get the best forever home. She tells me that I can stay here as long as it takes for the perfect home to come along. I don’t understand. I have food, treats, toys, beds, loving humans and foster brothers. What more can I ask for? When I get my forever home I know mom will cry for days ‘cause she loves me so much. Dad and my brothers will miss me like crazy but they will start all over again and help others like me that are about to get their wings.

I know I’m not easy to find a forever home for. I’m considered old. I think I’m between 6 and 8 years old and I have arthritis in my spine and hips but mom gives me medication every day, so I feel pretty good. I’m not a fan of kids. They move too fast, yell too much and it makes me nervous. And cats are not my best friends either but mom still tells me all the time that I’m her sweetheart. I like to cuddle on the sofa, go for walks and zoom around the yard.

My name is Moe and I’m proud to be a rescue boy. Meet our darling Dreyken who has just arrived to BRQ! He really needs a foster home asap. He is handsome, loving - and well behaved!! We do not know why he was a stray, and we'll never know. Dreyken is 2yrs old, healthy, has just been neutered, up to date on vaccinations and dewormed. He is clean in the house, polite when meeting people. He is so gentle when taking a treat, he won't touch your fingers! Dreyken does pull a lot on leash when he's excited, but when out walking on trails he calms down and does not pull at all. He can be dominant with some dogs and has not been tested with cats. Hi everyone! Meet Dryfus! He was rescued from a high kill pound outside of Montreal and he is settling in nicely with his foster mom. Dryfuss is young, about 2 yrs old, and he is very loving and affectionate - typical boxer! He is getting along with his boxer foster brothers. He is quiet and clean in the house. Dryfuss did show some separation anxiety when he came in to rescue but it seems to be subsiding as he gets used to his new routine. This is very common with rescue dogs. Dryfuss will be exposed to cats soon so we'll update on that as soon as we know more.

This is Abby and I thought I should bring you up to date on my life. You can probably guess I can’t type so I am dictating this to Joe, my new man-parent, and he is typing it for me.

It is exactly two months since I came here (April 21) and I want you to know that my new parents are treating me very well. There are two cats living here and sometimes they hiss at me but I will win them over in time. These people feed me very well and I am now a trim, but muscular, 58 pounds. You would be surprised to see that my ribs no longer stick out from under my skin. Here, take a look.

I have a beautiful bed where I sleep at night, right beside my parents. The woman-parent, Moira, lets me get into the people-bed every morning after she gets up and then I cuddle up with Joe until she leaves. She also lets me up on the couch; you will remember how much I love that. I have heard them telling other humans how pretty I am. We all know that’s the truth

but it is still nice to hear it from them.

There are parks nearby where I walk every day with Joe. At first I stayed on the lead and that was fine with me; I don’t like to be alone. Now, however, I am allowed to run free. At the start of our walks I do a big Boxer burn in the park but then I come back and walk right beside Joe. I don’t want to lose him.

I have decided to keep Joe and Moira and to let them live with me in this new home. I miss you but I am very happy here so do not worry about me. So thanks to all the BRQ people who were concerned with my welfare. I will never forget you and Joe will post the odd photo on the BRQ Facebook from time to time.

Boxer wiggles to all,

UPDATE JUNE 3RD 2011

Moose - formerly "Buddy" - has gone through two months of professional training to help him learn the social skills needed to get along with other dogs. He did amazing!!
Buddy is a great dog and needs your help - you see we have recently found out that the poor boy has arthritis in his spine. The good news is that he is able to be kept pain free on medication and live a normal boxer life. He will need to stay on a low dose of cortisone to remain comfortable and happy. Boxer Rescue Quebec is able to supply his cortisone and cover the medical care for his condition for the rest of his life - but what Buddy really needs is a home with a family to care for him.

Buddy is a gorgeous, very large, fawn and white apprx 6-7yr old boxer boy who was found as a stray. He is really stunning and everywhere he goes, his foster parents get compliments on how good looking he is. He has a playful and happy disposition, is very affectionate, clean in the house and can stay home alone during a full work day with no problems. He would like to be an only dog, and needs training not to chase cats.

If you think that you'd be interested in being a foster home for Buddy, please contact us or fill out our online adoption application here. If you are unable to care for Buddy yourself, please forward this email to friends and family.

Boxer Rescue Quebec will be joining other local rescues at the Hudson Pet Fair this Saturday December 4th from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hudson community center (394 Main, Hudson, J0P 1H0).

While the Pet Christmas Bazaar and Adoption Day take place, BRQ will be selling all natural Home Made dog cookies - made by BRQ volunteers - just in time for the holidays! The proceeds for the cookies will go towards food and vet bills for our rescued boxers.

The annual blessing of the animals takes place at 1 p.m. on Dec. 4 from the balcony of the community centre.

And get ready for Xmas with photos of your pets with Santa Clause from noon to 2:00!

So please come out and support BRQ - our yummy homemade dog cookies are a big hit with our canine friends. If you cannot make it to the Pet Fair on Saturday, La Cucina Verde in Vaudreuil - who donated their professional kitchen and ingredients (8 ovens and extra large baking sheets make everything go faster!!!) - will be selling our cookies throughout the holidays. Boxer Rescue supporters can stop by and purchase the cookies for their spoiled dogs 7 days a week!! Thank you so much to the Grandinetti Family for their continued support.

Casper is a young male boxer who has not had a good start in life. He came to us in January after being left tied over night in front of the SPCA Jean Talon. The poor guy seems to not have had a drop of love in his previous life. When Casper came to us, he had no manners and lacked impulse control. Now that he is having positive reinforcement clicker training sessions every day - he is showing us how incredibly smart he is! Casper is a very fast learner and is very motivated. He is affectionate and he loves to be around people. Because Casper still needs to continue his training, he is looking for a very specific foster home - no young children, no cats, and no dogs. Unfortunately such a foster home has not been found yet and Casper has been kennelled so far. Even though he is in a beautiful kennel, he has been in there too long and he is getting stressed. We would love to find him a foster home where he can continue his training and relax in a real home and loving environment. If this sounds like your home - please contact us or find out more about fostering here.
boxerrescuequebec.comtag:www.boxerrescuequebec.com,2005:Post/108992010-03-06T13:44:23-05:002022-04-11T07:50:08-04:00New photos of Fergie!Click here to see new photos of our Fergie girl!

boxerrescuequebec.comtag:www.boxerrescuequebec.com,2005:Post/108982010-03-01T10:51:49-05:002022-04-11T07:50:11-04:00Thank you Ann and Alstonvale Kennel!!A big thank you to Ann who is donating her services to board Casper at the beautiful Alstonvale Kennel while he waits to find a temporary foster home! Every year BRQ grows and is able to save more and more boxers. Sadly, this year, we have more abandoned boxers than ever and we are struggling to keep up with the need for more foster homes. We find oursleves with more dogs than homes. Some of these dogs are in danger of euthanasia.

In particular, we are in need of foster homes without other dogs - you can imagine how hard it is for us to find dog lovers with no dogs of their own, willing to foster. If you know of a dog lover who is not in a position to own a dog permanently, however would enjoy the companionship of a K9 on a temporary basis - please pass this note on and ask them to contact us at info@boxerrescuequebec.com

We have several dogs in need of a temporary home right now, as well as dogs waiting to come into rescue. The more foster homes we have, the more lives we can save.

Thank you for reading,

Boxer Rescue Quebec would like to take the opportunity this Thanksgiving to thank everyone who comes together to save these special dogs.

Thank you to our foster homes who give their hearts to their temporary (and sometimes not so temporary!) furry family members. Thank you to our volunteers who take the time out of their busy personal lives to interview potential families, organize fundraisers, drive our dogs to their vet appointments and hold their paws when they get a needle! Thank you to BRQ adopters who give our boxers a second chance at life. Thank you to our families who support us in our cause, don't complain when we miss a special dinner because we have to go pick up a dog at the last minute - and our parents & siblings who even take in a foster dog themselves sometimes! Thank you to the Hudson Veterinary Hospital for the great care they give to our boxers.

And this brings me to our special thank you - Thank you to everyone who helped us this past summer with our darling Pearl. Whether it was help through donations, fostering, or moral support. Pearl is doing amazing with her new mom, Pat, and her new boxer brother Archie, and BRQ boxer sister, Bindi. She now weighs a healthy 37lbs and has recovered from her emergency surgery. She loves to run, to wrestle and is enjoying life on a horse farm! With your help we were able to raise apprx $2500 which helped us to cover the majority of her vet expenses.

We could not have done it without you - thank you.

So Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Enjoy it and save some turkey for your furry friends!

Boxer wiggles and kisses to you all!

Hello, my name is Greta. I'm a beautiful, calm and gentle dog. I'm fearful, because I spent the first 4 years of my life in a puppy mill and I don't have good memories of that place. I need an owner who has experience with dogs, who is gentle, patient and who will give me time to adapt to my new home. I should ideally live with adults. I also need to develop experience with walking on a leash. If you think you would be the perfect owner for me, come by for a visit!
If you are interested in becoming a foster home, please email us, we are always in shortage of them!!!boxerrescuequebec.comtag:www.boxerrescuequebec.com,2005:Post/108402008-08-22T10:39:42-04:002022-04-11T13:45:22-04:00BRQ Dog Park Day a success!!Thanks to everyone who participated! Click here for photos and raffle contest winners!
boxerrescuequebec.comtag:www.boxerrescuequebec.com,2005:Post/108392008-08-08T08:34:00-04:002022-04-11T13:45:24-04:00BRQ Dog Park Day August 16th!We are happy to invite you to our Boxer Rescue Quebec Dog Park Day in Hudson, Qc on Saturday, August 16th from 9am until 5pm - at the Global Pet Foods Dog Park right off exit 26 for Hudson/St Lazare on Highway 40. BRQ will have a booth set up with raffle tickets (with great prizes!), doggie gear to trade for donations, free dog treats for all furry friends. Come and let your pooch have an off leash play with other pooches in a safe fenced in area. Meet previously adopted boxers, hear sucess stories, see before and after photos and especially.......inquire about available boxers! BRQ volunteers will be on hand to answer any questions and just plain have fun with everyone :0) We will also have adoption applications and foster applications handy ;0)

So be there or be square! We don't have events often so let's make this one count!

Boxer Rescue Quebec would like to take this opportunity to send a heartfelt thank you to Grace - who for her 13th birthday forfeited gifts and instead asked for donations to BRQ to help pay for Scout's ultrasound. Grace and her family have a soft spot for all rescue boxers and especially the white ones - last year they adopted Bianca, a deaf white boxer puppy, from BRQ. They have raised her, taught her sign language and have helped her grow into a super canine citizen. You can see her in the photo above with Gracie.

A huge thank you to all of Grace's friends and family - because of all of you, BRQ has finished off the last payment of Scout's medical bills.

So happy birthday Grace! Scout sends his love :0)
boxerrescuequebec.comtag:www.boxerrescuequebec.com,2005:Post/108322008-06-03T06:40:12-04:002022-04-11T13:50:26-04:00Info on Buster added!Click here for an update on Buster!
boxerrescuequebec.comtag:www.boxerrescuequebec.com,2005:Post/108312008-05-28T08:00:00-04:002022-04-11T13:50:28-04:00Info on Gus addedSee Gus' page for his new bio!
boxerrescuequebec.comtag:www.boxerrescuequebec.com,2005:Post/108302008-05-20T03:45:00-04:002022-04-11T13:50:32-04:00Buster is adopted!!boxerrescuequebec.comtag:www.boxerrescuequebec.com,2005:Post/108292008-05-17T11:25:54-04:002022-04-11T13:50:35-04:00New photos of Gus added
boxerrescuequebec.comtag:www.boxerrescuequebec.com,2005:Post/108252008-05-14T06:05:23-04:002022-04-11T13:50:37-04:00URGENT - foster homes neededBRQ is once again in desperate need of foster homes.
