A letter from Moe

Almost a year ago.....

It was Halloween day 2010. I’m in a small cage. There are other dogs around me. I can feel they are as scared as I am. The pound lady is really nice but she has a job to do. No one claimed me and they need to make space for the new ones so tomorrow I will get my wings.

Around lunch time the pound lady came in with another lady. Oh boy! She’s here for one of us! Will she pick me or the cute little black pug in the corner? He’s also scheduled to get his wings tomorrow. The pound lady takes a leash and opens my cage. YES! She picked me. We went outside, the ladies talked for a bit, we went for a short walk and then I went into the car with this new lady. Oh poor her! I smell so bad and there she is putting a warm jacket on me. It feels really nice. She does not seem to mind that I smell so bad because she petted me and kissed my head. She’s got tears in her eyes. I think she feels bad for the ones left behind. I gave her a big kiss and it worked. She’s smiling at me now.

A year later I’m still with the lady that picked me up she’s my foster mom. She tells me that if it wasn’t for the good people at Boxer Rescue Quebec and the nice lady (Carole) at the pound, I would not be this loving, happy boy I am today.

My foster mom tells me that one day I will get the best forever home. She tells me that I can stay here as long as it takes for the perfect home to come along. I don’t understand. I have food, treats, toys, beds, loving humans and foster brothers. What more can I ask for? When I get my forever home I know mom will cry for days ‘cause she loves me so much. Dad and my brothers will miss me like crazy but they will start all over again and help others like me that are about to get their wings.

I know I’m not easy to find a forever home for. I’m considered old. I think I’m between 6 and 8 years old and I have arthritis in my spine and hips but mom gives me medication every day, so I feel pretty good. I’m not a fan of kids. They move too fast, yell too much and it makes me nervous. And cats are not my best friends either but mom still tells me all the time that I’m her sweetheart. I like to cuddle on the sofa, go for walks and zoom around the yard.

My name is Moe and I’m proud to be a rescue boy. If you would like to be my forever home please give BRQ a shout :0)

Dreyken is here and in need of a foster or forever home!

Meet our darling Dreyken who has just arrived to BRQ! He really needs a foster home asap. He is handsome, loving - and well behaved!! We do not know why he was a stray, and we'll never know. Dreyken is 2yrs old, healthy, has just been neutered, up to date on vaccinations and dewormed. He is clean in the house, polite when meeting people. He is so gentle when taking a treat, he won't touch your fingers! Dreyken does pull a lot on leash when he's excited, but when out walking on trails he calms down and does not pull at all. He can be dominant with some dogs and has not been tested with cats. If you can help by fostering Dreyken temporarily or if you are interested in adopting Dreyken, please contact info@boxerrescuequebec.com. Thanks!!
